I discovered this trick by accident.
For some reason my stainless steal pots get these weird white splotches in them after boiling water. It happens in my Instant Pot as well.
I like to use vinegar to clean — because it’s cheap and I think it smells clean , don’t @ me — and I thought maybe it would help. Turns out it does.
- Just add a few tablespoons or 1/4 of a cup vinegar to the bottom of a pan. It doesn’t need to completely cover the bottom.
- Swirl the vinegar around for a few minutes.
- Scrub the bottom with a brush if it looks like stuff is still sticking. And rinse
- Make sure to rinse really good until there’s no more vinegar smell.
From my limited research it looks like this is safe as long as you aren’t leaving the vinegar in the pots for long periods of time. Either way works for me and I’m probably going to continue.
